　　安东尼·明格拉从赫尔大学毕业后担任大学讲师，专注于剧本创作，1984年他被伦敦影评人协会授予年度最具潜力编剧奖，1986年其舞台剧作品《曼谷制造》获得年度最佳剧本奖。1990年安东尼·明格拉担任电影导演，拍摄了处女作《一屋一鬼一情人》，获得了英国电影学院奖颁发的最佳剧本奖。2003年安东尼·明格拉担任英国电影学院院长一职。
